Arlo’s Game Day Apple Crunch
Whether you're heading to practice or cheering on your favorite team, this simple, sweet, and customizable snack is a winner.
What you’ll need
2 apples (choose your favorite kind)
Juice from one lemon
¼ cup caramel sauce (store bought) or nut/seed butter (peanut butter, almond butter, sunflower butter)
¼ cup chocolate chips
¼ cup crushed pretzels
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Microwave-safe bowl
Plate and spoon
How to make it
Prep and slice
Wash the apples and ask a grown-up to help cut them into thin slices. Arrange them in a single layer on a large plate or platter. Arlo’s tip: To help apple slices stay fresh and bright, toss them in a bowl with a little lemon juice before arranging.
Pick your drizzle
Warm the caramel sauce or nut/seed butter in a microwave-safe bowl for about 10 seconds. Give it a stir. It should feel smooth. If not, put it back in for another 5 seconds. Stir again.
Build your masterpiece
Use a spoon to drizzle the caramel sauce or nut butter over the apple slices.
Add the fun stuff
Sprinkle on the chocolate chips, crushed pretzels, or other favorite toppings (see below for easy swaps), and cinnamon (if using). Arlo's tip: Set up a topping buffet so everyone can choose their favorite combo.
Crunch and enjoy
Share with family or friends and enjoy right away.
Easy swaps
Use raisins or dried cranberries instead of chocolate chips for a healthier option
Try cereal squares or granola instead of crushed pretzels for added crunch
Use mini marshmallows or sprinkles (Arlo always votes for sprinkles) for a colorful twist
